How To Find Free Pictures For Blog Posts.

One of the things I struggle most with Blogging is finding free pictures for blog posts.

You could purchase pictures using Istock.com but that can add up after awhile and those pictures look so fake.

So one of the most affordable methods to find pictures is to use Flickr.com. You can use certain pictures on Flickr as long as you give credit back to the photographer.

But not all pictures are free for use on Flickr. You must use pictures with a Commons Attribution License.

Ideally, you’re suppose to type in what you are looking for and the results will appear in most recent order. However, I have found that if I type in a color and sort by clicking most interesting, I get a better option of pictures to choose from.

Now that you have a source of where to collect pictures, sadly, nothing can account for taste. Often, after sorting through pages and pages of pictures, I choose something that’s just interesting and loosely related to my post.

My pictures are to be interpreted like poetry. It’s all implied and left up to the viewer to make meaning of the picture and the post. I’m like a regular Edgar Allan Poe;-).

Where do you find Free pictures for your blog posts?

Yes! I was spending twice as much time on photo searches as I was blogging (I’ve been a writer for a million years, so I’m fast). You know what I sometimes do? Just take my own…like you say, it’s about poetry as much as literal illustration, at least for me. But your advice is my back up plan now!

Hi – I use Flickr Creative Commons – I find great pics there. There’s also http://www.dreamstime.com – I have used them for years – paid and free pics on the site.

Pictures are indeed an issue. I’ve been using fotolia…there’s cost involved as you buy credits and images can be valued at 1-20+credits. Thanks for the flickr information…I’m going to try that and see what I come up with.

Appreciate this valuable information.

Interesting! I had always wondered about blog posts and photography so out of fear I always purchase them on istockphoto.com. I’ll have to check out this as an alternative. Thanks for sharing!
